Able Seaman (J/16904) Francis Holland was serving on S.S.Appam when he was captured and held as a prisoner of war. He died aged 22, on 12th September 1918 and is buried in Niederzwehren Cemetery, Germany. He is also commemorated on Folkestone War Memorial.
Francis John Holland was born (September) 1896 in the W. Derby district, to Annie Maria Dinah and George Francis Holland. His father was a hair dresser at 7 Bouverie Road East for several years (1913,15 trade directories). George and Annie then moved to “The Cabin”, Throwley Forstall, Faversham, Kent.
