Paris was killed in action. The Times 26th July 1918 “2nd Lieutenant Paris Villiers Drake-Brockman, the Buffs, was killed when putting out wire in No Man’s Land on the night of July 18. He was the son of Mr. Paris F. Drake-Brockman, of the Inner Temple. Educated at Westminster School, he joined the Artists Rifles in which he was promoted to sergeant. Afterwards he passed the Army Entrance examination, and passing through Sandhurst, was gazetted to the Buffs in September 1917 and went to the front in April, 1918.” The official records (CWGC) state that was killed at Dickebusch, Flanders, on 17th July 1918, aged 19 years old. He is buried in the Abeele Aerodrome Military Cemetery, Belgium. . He is commemorated on Folkestone War Memorial.
Paris Villiers Drake Brockman was born (June) 1899, in the St. Giles district of London, to Isabel Alice and Paris Frederick Drake Brockman, a barrister. He was the eldest of three children, Isabel Rachael Mary (born 1903) and Maurice Frederick (born 1905). He was a cousin of Ralph Zouch Drake Brockman, also commemorated on this memorial. In 1911 both Paris Frederick and Paris Villiers are staying at 29 Connaught Road, Folkestone, as visitors.
