Percy Dobbie enlisted into the 1st Battalion Canterbury Regiment, New Zealand Expeditionary Force was killed on 7th June 1917, aged 28. He is buried at Underhill Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
Percy Frederick Dobbie was born (June) 1889 in the Hastings District of East Sussex to Elizabeth and William, a whitesmith. The family lived at Chapel Road, Chertsey, Surrey in 1891 but had moved back to Hastings by 1901. They resided at Preston Lodge, West Hill Gardens, Hastings and William is described as a property owner and an employer. The family comprised of Herbert, Sydney, Arthur, William, Frank. Olive, Percy, Benjamin and Albert Edward Dobbie. The family or maybe just Percy may have emigrated to New Zealand prior to the First World War. A connection to Christ Church has not yet been made.
